Default Beacon Falls drive to Rye, NY

How long would the drive be from Beacon Falls to Rye, NY taking the 8 then Meritt Pkwy? Opinion of Beacon Falls. Interested in Chatfield Farms 55+ community. Thanks

I had to respond to this because it reminded me of a funny thing. I live in Westchester County (where Rye, NY is) and was in temp digs near Hartford during the week this summer for a temp assignment and coming "home" on the weekends. Well, when I took 84/684 home (sometimes I did that, sometimes I took I-91/95 or Merritt Pkwy) I was surprised to see a big billboard on I-84 west in the eastern part of Waterbury saying that it was 1 HOUR to Playland Amusement Park (in Rye, NY).

So based on that, I'd say an hour (Beacon Falls being a bit south of Waterbury but being a bit more realistic about travel time than that sign). But that is with absolutely no traffic, so that is not true if you're going during rush hours. I'm going to safely say 1 1/2 - 2 hours with typical traffic, but I'll let others chime in. It may actuallly be faster going up to Waterbury and taking I-84 west to 684 south to 287 east (and then maybe an exit down I-95 depending where in Rye you're going) than it will be taking 8 to the Merritt (Merritt west into the Hutch Parkway in NY can be pretty bad at rush hour), though I know 84 in Danbury can be pretty bad too.

I-84 west into Danbury gets congested in Newtown and 684 is a bottleneck past exit 2 south, so I think that would make the trip much longer. But if you're going between 6:30 and 8:15am, expect to hit traffic on RT 8 and the Merritt. It will probably add on a half hour to your trip. I'd say it'll take you about 50 minutes without traffic.

When I used to commute to southern FFC, I'd leave extra early for work and hang out once I got there. Makes for a less stressful day.

The Merritt/Hutch(Rt.15) doesn't bring you in to Rye. Without traffic and driving reasonably, you're looking at a minimum of 65 minutes traveling Rt.8 and I-95. I'd disregard the billboard in Waterbury that says an hour to Playland.
