The one lane squeeze is brutal coming south on I91 to merge on I95. Don't know what they had in mind when they designed that. And the amount of drivers that 'weasel' in and cut the line is very frustrating. I try to avoid it at all costs.

I noticed on my last trip that there appears to be a 2nd lane in the works at the merge point on the right side. Is this the plan? is it close to completion?

Thanks

You must remember the I-95/I-91/Route 34 interchange was desinged over 50 years ago. The world was a much different place back then and driving was not anything like it is today. Originally there were two lanes there but the merge point with I-95 Southbound was too short and there were a lot of accidents.

Right now that part of the interchange is under construction as part of the Q Bridge project. It will most likely be complete sometime next year. The website below will give you more information. Jay
