Newtowner is on a distinguished road
Default Easiest way to get to NYC from Newtown?

Hi. New to the board and southern Newtown. Occasionally I would like to go to Manhattan during the week from about 10 am to 6 at night (sometimes later.) Which Metro North station has the easiest and most available parking?

I would also like to minimize the drive as the highways can get very bad depending on the time of day. I did try Bridgeport but the parking was confusing and I ended up parked in an office building that was semi-closed at night and I had to track down the sleeping attendant to let me out! So I found that to be a hassle. Is there better safe parking in Bridgeport? Should I try Fairfield? Make the drive to Stamford? TIA!

During the week you will not find much parking in Fairfield. In Bridgeport it is best use the garage at the Harbor Yard Arena. It has a connection to the train platforms. Another option is the old bus station garage but I am not sure how good it is now that the station has been moved out of there. Jay

I usually use Southeast, in New York. I-84 west to Exit 19, right off ramp, then left at the light. Go past the shopping plaza on that road and go to the end - maybe a half mile or so.

But since you're in southern Newtown - it may not be as convenient

There are metro north stations in Danbury, Bethel, Redding, and Wilton. Have you tried those?
