Default got a job in Bristol-where to buy? Help!

My husband got a job in Bristol. We are looking to buy within 35 minutes of Bristol. We are not from the area but do have family in Greenwich. We took a look at Southbury but I felt it was too rural and hilly . . . Any recommendations? Thanks!

Hi Chrissy
Bristol actually has a lot to offer, but Southbury is very nice if you like being Rural. If you're not looking for rural, there is Farmington, W. Hartford, Meriden and Naugatuck. No matter where you look in the Bristol area, you are still looking at about an hour and a half drive to Greenwich. Hope this is helpful.

You do not give us an idea of what you are looking for. Price, town type, school requirements, etc. would help us steer you in the right direction. I assume you want something more suburban than Southbury. Many people that work in Bristol will move to the suburbs of Hartford. For a town that is more developed than Southbury, Farmington and West Hartford would be good choices. These towns have a lot to offer and are more developed than Southbury. However they would also be located further from Greenwich.

A couple of other towns to consider would be Southington and Cheshire. Both are convenient to Bristol and are very nice. Jay

Southington, Cheshire, Burlington (more rural), Bristol itself, Farmington, Berlin.
Those are all easy commutes to Bristol. If good schools are an issue then I'd rule out Bristol only, all the others are great. If you need something affordable then Bristol might be best.
Please add more specifics for your search for us to help you more.

There are all sorts of nice smaller towns around Bristol. My husband works in Bristol and we live on the Meriden/Southington border. It takes him probably 20-25 minutes to get to work depending on traffic. Cheshire, Plainville, Plantsville are all very nice and closer to Bristol than Southbury..none of them are super rural but are nice.

Where I live on the West Side of Meriden gets a real bad rap and is actually very nice. I live fairly close to Hubbard Park in Meriden, more towards Southington and we love it here. It is quiet, neighbors are nice no major issues at all.

Good luck with your search
