Wethersfield is located immediately south of Hartford. It is about 30 miles from UConn so your drive would be about 40 minutes. Note that this trip is generally going against traffic so you should not have much trouble getting to UConn from there.

Wethersfield is a charming older, more mature community with a lot of smaller homes on smaller lots. Old Wetherfield is a true hidden gem with 100's of 100+ year old homes on charming tree lined streets. I could never figure out why it is not considered to be more desirable.

As for the schools I do not agree with KHO2. Wethersfield High School students score better than both Tolland and South Windsor on reading, writing and science on the Connecticut Academic Performance Tests. In math though, Wethersfield scores lower than both Tolland and South Windsor. You can find more on the schools in th elinks I previously provided. Jay

Hi -

I have heard that parts of Vernon/Rockville can be rough. . .but I'd like to check out those towns' (not to live but to visit) amenities. Do you know which areas to stay away from
Thank you!

Hi, Jay -

I didn't see your reply about Wethersfield till now - (I'm still maneuvering my way around this forum ). Thank you for that. That sounds like a lovely town - probably too far from UConn for me but a place to check out, for sure. Also, I did check out the school links - very helpful.
Norrette

Norette - No problem. I agree that Wethersfield would be a bit far to commute if you do not have to. You should try to stay east of the river where homes tend to be less expensive and closer to UConn. Good luck, Jay
