Default Help. Traveling between Hartford CT and Springfield MA. Need to find a nice place to live

Hi, I would be moving to CT in December. I have to travel between downtown Hartford CT and Springfield MA for my job. I would like to live somewhere in between Hartford CT and Springfield MA so I do not have to travel a lot everyday. I am single so my main concern is safety. It would be nice if the town has more culture events going on as well. Can anyone suggest a location where I should live in CT?

Thanks

PING

well the two cities are only about 22 miles apart so the list is going to be pretty short, but if you want to stay right around 91 you might want to look into Enfield,Suffield,Windsor Locks and maybe even windsor but that borders hartford to the north so it's not really in between. That's all i can think of right off the top of my head that will give you easy access to 91 in CT.Springfield is pretty much right on the border of the 2 states so not much in Mass, really only longmeadow but that is a very expensive place to live and there is not too many rentals there.

Enfield, Suffield, Windsor, Windsor Locks, Agawam, MA...thats pretty much the list.
Though none of these towns will have any cultural events...sorry.

My brother lives in Enfield, and while not a cultural mecca, it is a nice place to live, seems affordable, and has good shopping and many restaurants in the area.

I think you need to provide us with a little more information. Are you going to be renting or buying? Do you have kids? How much can you afford? Do you want/need to be closer to either Hartford or Springfield for any reason? Other than "cultural events", what would you like in a town? This will help steer you to the correct place to live. The towns the others have noted are all great but without more information we can't help you narrow it down. Jay

What do you mean by "safety"? I interpret that to mean that you don't want to live in an urban environment- am I wrong?

Default looking for a place to live in CT

Hi, sorry I was not really clear. I plan to move to CT in the end of December . I have to travel between downtown Hartford CT and Springfield MA for my job. I would like to live somewhere in between Hartford CT and Springfield MA so I do not have to travel a lot everyday. My main concern is safety and easy access to highway (91). I just want to make sure I can walk around or go jogging around the neighborhood safely. I am single and have no kids. It would be nice if the town has more culture events (concerts, shows, shopping area etc) going on as well. Can anyone suggest a location where I should live in CT? I hope this help clarify things. My budget varies between $800-1100 for 1 BR.

Thanks again

PING

If you are counting out Hartford for safety reasons, my next suggestion would be Windsor. You might be able to find a place near the little downtown area which has some shopping and community feel, and it is very close to I-91.

Windsor Locks would just about be the halfway point, and as the town the airport is in, has excellent access to I-91.

Windsor Locks is a good location in some ways, but I have some friends who live there and feel pretty isolated. I don't think it's the best town for a single person.

My pick would probably be Windsor, since it's an easy trip into Hartford/West Hartford for anything you might want to do. OTOH, I used to know someone who lived in Agawam and loved it.
