Hi!

We;ve receently moved to New Milford, up on the top of a huge ridge (we call it our mountain!) We are wondering-- do we need snow tires? Maybe just for my husband, who drives to Mt. Kisco each day? He drives a PT Crusier, aI have a GMC Yukon Surburban. Thoughts?

Look further down the CT forum threads, there was someone asking recently about needing a 4x4 in CT. The general consensus was "no" for the most part so in that sense I'd definitely say no snow tires needed as long as you have good all-season radials.

To me there is no substitute for SNOW tires( not all season), they will be night and day with them. If your Yukon is 4 X4 I would say no, but for the PT a big yes.
Don't let someone sell you a all season tire and call it a snow make sure it has a very aggressive tread pattern or it will load up with snow and it will be useless. Some snows are studable too, very noisey but great in ice.

80-90% of your driving you may not need them but for me just 1 time not being able to get up a hill to get home would be worth it to me.

I blame this on the boy scouts BE PREPARED JMT
