4) WoodCliff Estates
5) A condo rental on Prospect avenue, G'bury.
which one of this should be a better one from commute point of view, safety and convinence. So Please rate the best from commute, safety and conviniece for me. I dont have kids, Just me and my wife. I need easy and no traffic access to supermarket, gyms, parks etc.
Any thing to look out for in the apartments as far as interiors is concerned? especially interms of maintenance etc.. I will be visitng them soon.

I am not sure what condos there are on Prospect. I only know of some multifamily homes there. That said, I would say for convenience stay in Glastonbury. You will have virtually no traffic to commute to work or for access to shopping here. I live and work in town which has been so convenient and easy on my car's mileage. At lunch I can run home or run local errands without any problem. It makes life very easy.

The Pavillions are located in the heart of the Buckland hills shopping district and traffic there is a nightmare particularly this time of year.

East Hartford and Rocky Hill are not far and traffic getting into and out of Glastonbury is not that bad. Rocky Hill though is on the other side of the Connecticut River so you will have to cross the Putnam Bridge. that would make it a bit less convenient than East Hartford which is directly adjacent to Glastonbury. Good luck, Jay

thanks, JAY.. I really appreciate the place on Prospect st is a 2 bed apartment on prospect street. I am hoping that i will like it when i visit the place in person.
can you also identify a good gym in that area... i am lookng at something that has good access to freewights, adequate cardio machines ... although i will miss the 24 hrs gym that i go to where i live.

That apartment is in a small complex of 8 units. I do not live far from there. You should know that immediately behind that complex is Welles Village which is a small town-owned housing project. Welles Village is a group of mostly small two-family homes built during World War II to provide housing for wartime factory workers at nearby Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford. Welles Village is NOT unsafe. Most of the people there are hard working people of modest means. I would not really worry about it much.

As for gyms, there are two. Healthtrax on Hebron Avenue is a full service health club with lots of freeweight and cardio equipment as well as a pool. It is a very clean and well maintained facility that is more upscale in character and is also more expensive.

WOW is a gym on Oakwood Drive. It is more of a workout type gym. several people I know go there to get their workouts. It is more reasonably priced than Healthtrax so there are a lot of people that are members. Let me know if there is anything else you need. Jay

Whatever you do...stay AWAY from The Pavilions.

The place is dominated by both college students and people who are here on work visa's. Apartments are typically mold-filled, and the appliances are from the early 80's.

Worst of all, there is literally trash ALL over the place. If you take a look at apartmentratings.com, you'll see pictures of exactly what I'm referring to. There are not enough dumpsters for the literally thousands of people who live there, so they are always filled up and trash is therefore dumped on the side. Do you want to live in this sort of atmosphere?

My advice: stay away from Manchester. You can find a rental in a much nicer town for the same price. Do you really want to live in the middle of a mall?

Check out Ellington--good rental options, and a nice, safe town.

I agree about the Pavillions and possibly some of the other complexes in the Buckland Hills area. But I do not agree to stay away from Manchester. It is a very nice town with a lot to offer. Have you looked into apartments in the Chenney Mills area. These apartments are loft style units in converted silk mill buildings and are pretty nice. The area is safe and a lot quieter than the Bucland Hills area. plus you are on the south side of Manchester which will allow you easier access to Glastonbury. Jay

I've checked out Rockwood Manor. Not a bad place, very nice area, one of the best in RH. It doesn't have a pool\gym\clubhouse, so that might be a negative if you're big on amenities, especially since most other apartment complexes in town do have at least one of those. It does grills and a garden, though.

There's also Colonial Village in Glastonbury. It's a bit more expensive (a little over 1000 for 1BR as I recall), but it was pretty good. I personally preferred it over the far more expensive Addison Mill, but that's me.

i lived in glastonbury for 2 years and it seems to be very safe. You never hear police sirens or ambulances and the police don't seem to be too busy because they don't rush out if they need to come out to your house for any reason. ps-i also loved it here, favorite town by far.

Default rentals in Glastonbury

Can anyone give any reccomendations on finding a rental home in town. We are moving to the area from Florida and want to rent first to make sure this town works for our family.
