Yes, but you would be commuting every day, right? So it would be a big part of your life. I can understand the desire to be closer to family (been there, done that) but at this distance, I doubt it would really make much of a difference. JMHO, Jay

I agree. Without knowing the OP's exact situation, I would guess they would go back to see family once a week, if that. Commuting to work is daily. An extra 30 minute drive to NJ once a week is much easier than an extra 30 minutes five times a week.

Can anyone recommend good places to live no more than 20 minute drive south from New Haven? Would like a condo or townhome, single guy with two small dogs; need two bedroom; 1/1/2 baths. Near good stores/mall and must have good dog walking paths. Any ideas???

South of New Haven is Long Island Sound. Do you mean like south along I-95? Do you mean 20 minutes during rush hour or just a regular drive without traffic. Also, how much are you willing to spend? That will make a big difference.

Without knowing the answers to these questions, I guess the best place to start would be Milford. It is a nice safe suburban town with a lot of shopping and many nice neighborhoods. It would probably take you about 20 minutes to get into New Haven depending where you live and where you work. I hope this helps. Jay
