I can't really vouch for 91 nor for 95 east of New Haven, but much of 84 between Waterbury and Danbury doesn't have lights. I presume the same deal for 84 east past Vernon or so.

I have traveled the Hutch Pkwy enough times (day, nights and otherwise ) on my way to and from NYC and I can tell you with the utmost confidence that outside NYC that parkway has absolutely no lights, no lamps, no anything. The stretch between the CT border and the 287 interchange has plenty of reflectors.

Plus, even in the stretch within NYC, often times long stretches are completely dark despite having plenty of lamps, but it appears NYC has a problem with this because almost every highway in that city has more than enough lamps that are off 24/7. Makes you wonder where all the tax money goes when basic things like that are not fixed.

I remember as a kid in the late 70s they replaced the lights on all the NYC highways with a "modernized" design yet they never seemed to be on. Guess some things never change....

Lights. Tolls. Shoulders. Buildings. If any of these happen I will move.

LOL!
Let's start a movement: KEEP THE MERRITT DANGEROUS!

If people followed the rules of the road, it wouldn't be dangerous. The speed limit is 55mph. Do you follow it?

This is true. Remember, the interstate highways are mostly paid for by the Federal government and must follow their design standards. They usually require lighting on interstates. The state routes are mostly funded by the state so one of the first things they eliminate is lighting to save money. Jay

Exactly. The people who are complaining about the dangers of the road are the same people driving well over the speed limit.
