Greenwich to Montvale
You must be new to the area in general. The distance between Greenwich and Montvale is about 35 miles so at 5:00 am on a Sunday it would take about 40-45 minutes. At 9:00 am on a weekeday it will easily take an hour or more. If there is an accident on the Tappan Zee or I-95 that is a two hour trip.

And hour would be MINIMAL, and you'd probably run the risk of a speeding ticket. Why must you live in Greenwich?

Moving from Chicago for job in Montvale nj. Our children play Water Polo and Greenwich is the only high level program in the area.

Years ago I worked in Ramsey NJ and commuted from Fairfield, a trip that was significantly longer than your commute Greenwich to Montvale. I believe it took me about 90 minutes during the early morning (I left the house early just before normal rush hour).
Greenwich is about 30 miles from Montvale and you are going against traffic crossing the Tappen Zee Bridge. Plus with EZ Pass, you do not have to stop for the toll (just slow down) on the way home at night only. Depending where in Greenwich you live and where in Montvale you work, it would probably be around an hour+ during the morning and evening commutes in good weather. If you live close to the New York border in Greenwich and are right off the Garden State in Montvale (which you probably are), you could do it in an hour.
Your route would generally be the Merritt Parkway (Route 15, named the Hutchinson River Parkway in New York State) or I-95 south to I-287 west, through White Plains (there may be some traffic through here), to I-87 north over the Tappen Zee Bridge to the Garden State Parkway south. Montvale is just over the New York State line a couple of miles south of I-87.
I am surprised that the northern New Jersey suburbs do not offer the program you are interested in. There are a lot of beautiful upscale communities there and being suburbs of New York, they usually try to provide things other towns have. Saddle River is directly south of Montvale and is a very nice upscale suburb and your commute would be minutes. Good luck, Jay

Honestly who in their right mind would choose NJ over CT if the commute was reasonable?

You must not be aware of some of the TRULY BEAUTIFUL parts of New Jersey. There are MANY of them. New Jersey is MORE than what you see from the turnpike.

There are MANY parts of New Jersey that are soooo beautiful. Northern Bergen County has some wonderful towns including Ho Ho Kus, Saddle River, Allendale, Ramsey, Mahwah, Upper Saddle River, Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Franklin Lakes, Woodcliff Lakes. Ridgewood is similar to Greenwich. There are also beautiful areas in Morris County like Peapack, Gladstone and Chester. The list goes on and on. While I love Connecticut, it is very hard to argue that New Jersey isn't a great place to live either. Jay

Well, to start, approximately 5.2 million more folks than those who chose Connecticut making it the most densely populated state in the country.
New Jersey is beautiful, hence the moniker "The Garden State." It's unfortunate that most folks base their opinion on what they see from East Rutherford to Fort Lee on I-95.
