The overwhelming majority of cigarette smokers in the U.S. are poor and of low educational achievement.
Due to this, laws dictating the behavior of smokers must be strict and all encompassing.

Eventually this behavior model will be fully removed from the day to day functioning of society like we are currently seeing and have seen for quite a few years now.

Currently laws must be enacted to curtail behavior deemed by the majority of people as being deviant and damaging to the health and well being of the general public.

This of course would include large fines for discarding cigarette butt's out car windows and by dropping them on the ground.

Julian17033, I bet you're single aren't you? Just because you don't like smoking, that is no reason to go around insulting smokers (I am one and am highly educated so there goes your theory). This is America and smoking is legal (and always will be) so learn to deal with it.

Actually, they are called statistics and they are accurate. Numbers do not lie.

What is amazing to me is that smokers are actually posting in here trying to defend their polluting, rude and potentially hazardous behaviors.

A one dollar deposit on each cigarette.
Return the butt and get your dollar back.

Its 100% illegal to toss cigarette butts out the window for many reasons. No ashtray is a lazy persons excuse. They are avaliable for ANY car. Toss it my way, behind you as Im on my motorcycle and as soon as youre at your next stop and Ill be throwing something back into your face, and it wont be a cigarette butt.

I know. Blows my mind. My dad smokes, but at least he has the respect to use an ashtray.

I really, really, really, really, really, REALLY wanted to stay out of this thread.

I'm absolutely not going to deny that using tobacco can be hazardous to one's health. But, i would like you(and others) to take a look at something.

Look at the number of cigarettes consumed in various nations: List of countries by cigarette consumption per capita - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Now, look at the life expectancy for various nations: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ife_expectancy.

Not quite what you were expecting, was it?

That is a pet peeve of mine too. In fact littering of any kind. I find it disgusting. And I smoke.
