hey Ridge

Ridgefield snobby? Perhaps some, but in this town that would be considered behavior that would be frowned upon- hey if one can afford to live here, I would not care LOL Another Californian in Connecticut- you are joining many who live here now. Enjoy the four seasons~!

Thanks!
I lived in Ridgefield (Filmore Lane) as a kid. I now live about 30 minutes south of Ridefield. Ridgefield is beautiful! It looks like it could be on a New England post card! Small town, Church steeples, Library, Inn, large old beautiful homes, picket fences - great place to raise a family ... what's crime - not in Ridgefield??

It depends on what you want - too far - IN MY OPINION to commute to Manhattan but people do it. Real estate is high.

Default Making the right choice

While Ridgefield is a pretty upscale community, it certainly is not as bad as some of the towns that are downright snooty.

You are making a great choice.

Default Ridgefield snobby?

I thought it was when I was growing up there (1980's through early 1990's). But it may have changed since then, and I am sure that it's not as snooty as some of the other towns within Fairfield County. I am sure your children will find some kids who think like they do. Good luck.

I lived in Ridgefield for 10 years. Got out because I did not need to be there anymore. True schools are top. It has a beautiful down town. Close to shopping and they do have some: Khol's, Chicos. You will find a shack for 1/2 million. My old neighborhood was 1500 to 2000 sq ft homes. I sold mine 6 years ago for 504,000. I heard from my old neighbor they are now almost in the 700,000. The tax situation went stupid there for a while because of poor town fiscal mgt. I don't know if they corrected that. As for travel it is about 1 3/4 to Grand Central door to door, 40 minutes to Norwalk. I worked in Norwalk and did a Ph.D. in the city. The area will drive you numb in prices.
