Thats 3. 3 times storms or winds have weakened before they got here. Its good Severe weather stayed to our south today and we got spared the severe stuff.

As far as This weekends storm... Still early... Couple models showing rain.

There will be 2 systems... the second one will be a coastal system that rides up the cold front...

For now lets keep it rain for Sunday unless things change...

Its March 1st...you guys must be thrilled. In 1 month its April. But in 8 months its November again. LOL

I hope we dont have a flashback of last March this coming weekend. Its looking more intense as the days go on... Northern Tier of CT could get some major Backend snows as the cold front sweeps through..

Enjoy the cooler than normal temps for now.

Looks like there may be a little snow/sleet mixed in tonight/tomorrow morning, otherwise rain and relatively mild through Monday.......reports I've seen show only rain for the 10th except for a little snow/sleet mix for a small part of the event in far northern CT.

Coldest start to March since 1994. Just giving facts thats all.

Didnt get past 30 yesterday even though the suns angle was higher ... The air at the surface has nothing to do with the sun sometimes.. It can be 50 degrees in the summer... I preach this all the time. Speaking of sun... Sunspot 1164 is 3 times as wide as earth.. Solar flares have been acting up again. When looking at the sun it had a blank to it for years, now sunspots are visible..

Based on the 10-day outlook, looks like we'll end up like the previous 3 March's in Hartford area...little or no measurable snow going forward

I thought this map was quite interesting: Snow cover has now retreated north of 40 latitude in much of the USA (except for the Mt tops out West). Here is a satellite image from yesterday; you can see that the retreating snow cover line has reached southern Connecticut. My area along the I-95 corridor is now about 85% snow free. It looks like snow cover is 100 % gone from Long Island, New Jersey, Cape Cod, and parts of southern Rhode Island.

For areas north of I-95, with rain and temps in the 40’s and 50’s in the coming week (looks like absolutely no chance of snow in the next 10 to 14 days)…this may be the last week of snow cover for many areas of Connecticut.

I thought it was worth one last look:

I can vouch for this. Just drove up from Philly back to WH...did not see any snow cover until past Waterbury!

Default Top Snowstorms

Interesting Fact:

7 of the Top 44 NorthEast Snowstorms since 1950 have been in the last two years; 16 this century.

Thats insane. 7 of them in past 2 years! The past Post Christmas Blizzard is in there..

The Northeast Snowfall Impact Scale (NESIS)
