So you think up north most families do not get along and that "down south family is family and it's all love"....REALLY? I need to go to that part of the south because what I have seen is NOT that. I see a lot of single moms with 2 or more kids who are by no means ready to have them, dads that seem to disappear pretty quickly, and grandparents that wind up raising their grandkids.

So if that is family love....nah, I would rather NOT do that to my parents.

For me Connecticut offers the perfect balance between big city pace and quiet life. And quite frankly I have no plans to leave and most people I know don't either. Jay

I knew it...I'm posting in-between coats of 45 joint compound and rushing. I had the finger on speel cheek too.

Tried it but the economy squashed that (couldn't sell the house). I have no doubt I will be back up there again someday. Just trying to remember that I have a lot going for me, good job, house, car, health and family.

I also look at it from a good perspective as my Mother in law has MS and my FIL broke his hip so it is good we are down in NC to help them out.

We moved here from Seattle about 2 years ago. It was difficult in the beginning, we found that people here were very reserved, and for the most part not very welcoming. However, as time goes on, things are getting a bit easier. We bought in Southington, which is definitely a bit friendlier than some of the other towns we looked in. If your town has a "newcomers" group, that could be very helpful! Good luck!
