Hopefully not everyone is like this mother.

To answer your question, East Hampton is a nice town. A bit of a hidden gem IMO.

As for the mother, I'm not going to pass judgement based upon a WTNH report. I have direct experience with a reporter there who showed up at my place of business trying to do "investigative reporting" and had zero fodder. Zero. In the report aired they flat out lied and said I did and said something that I did not..."off camera" of course. On camera the guy got chumped by me...but "Off camera Mr X admitted to doing Y" No I didn't. Scum of the earth.

Going by her claim that she got home from her 3rd shift job and dozed off...It may have been an honest mistake and not malicous. We don't know.

I know someone who grew up and still lives in East Hampton and her mother's house has gotten broken into twice by local teens and there is somewhat of a drug problem there as well (I've heard from her.)

LOL You gotta love it...everyone thinks there is a drug problem in their quiet suburban CT town. "You know Mildred, all these druggies are taking over the town!"

Have you ever been to East Hampton? It's a small town with a nice historic downtown and Lake Pocotopaug and not much more.

The break-in was probably someone from the North End of Middltown.

Ok, I grew up in Enfield, having never heard of this town, just thought I'd get some local opinions. I love her shirt in the mug shot!

There was a big meth lab problem in the recent past in E Hampton, but they authorities have pretty much decimated that.

I know, right! My husband and I were like "I love weed"...hmm maybe she should have changed shirts before the mugshot.

Exactly. It's a thing here or there that folks turn into "a drug problem". Willimantic is still saddled by the heroin trade that was short lived there over a decade ago. It's "Heroin town". Really? Maybe 10 years ago.

Weed is a mountain/ski town in CA. It's like a "I Love NY" shirt. There is the Weed Brownie Company etc I'm not saying people don't buy them because it says "I love Weed" but I'm just pointing out the background behind it.

Even if that IS the case...the average Joe does not know that information. To everyone watching it looks bad...the reporters knew that. Usually mug shots (shown on TV) are zoomed in to just show the face...this one displayed the shirt too.

It is the Irony of the situation.
