Yikes...other than the two taxi services [(860) 666-6666 Newington or (203) 777-7777 New Haven], I don't know of any alternatives.
What is the nature of your commute (dates and times), and is it on a regular basis?

Ah ha. First things first. Try calling one of the two numbers to see how things progress. If all works out, you are on a good commuter route (Route 15). I'm sure that East Street already has a run established to Hartford/from Hamden.

You probably need to take a bus or train to Hartford, then transfer to the bus to Newington. There are buses from New Haven to Hartford, so check the routes of the Newington bus to see how close that will take you to your interview destination.
Here's the CT Transit website:
CTTRANSIT Website New Server
Linked below are most of their routes, but not the commuter express routes which have a separate link on the home page:

There is a Dattco bus route listed from New Haven, to Middletown, to Wethersfield, to Hartford. Newington is next to Wethersfield, so check to see if there's a bus from Wethersfield to Newington. If not, bring a bicycle along, walk or hitch hike a few miles, or continue to Hartford and take the Newington bus.
Another alternative would be to try to find someone else going that way and asking them for a ride, or to hitch hike (up Route 5/15 North).

For an interview, it might be worth it to take a cab. It would probably be expensive but you will get there on time in a reasonable amount of time. If you get the job, there is a commuter service called Easy Street that arrange van or car pool rides. That would be your best bet for the long term. goood luck. Jay

Yes. Once you get to Hartford, the New Britain Bus (Route P + P1) will take you to the center of Newington. But you need to check if it will take you close enough to your interview destination. If not, you can take a Newington Taxi by calling them when you arrive.
Or else, take a taxi from Wethersfield to Newington, or find another way, (unless you're going near Westfarms Mall which is located near one of the far corners of Newington).
A map of the New Britain/Hartford route operated by Dattco:
