Can you tell me which of these YMCA sleepaway camps have the best reputations in CT? Any inside feedback about the facilities, activities, the kids and staff would be great. We have a 9yo daughter. Thanks

Yeah, Camp Jewell was great when I went, lots of activities and things to do. Granted, I haven't been there in 16 years...

I went to Camp Jewell back when I was a kid (more than 20 years ago). I LOVED it there.

The others, I don't know about.

I was involved in camping here in CT about 15 years ago. If you happen to be Jewish check out Camp Laurelwood in Madison (culturally Jewish although not at all Orthodox). If not, I know both Sloane and Jewel have an excellent reputation. I don't know anything about Mohawk one way or the other.

Overnight camping was one of the most formative experiences of my childhood. You are making a great decision for your child.

My kids both attended Camp Jewel last year and loved it. My daughter went to Camp Woodstock the year before and enjoyed it as well but definitely preferred Camp Jewel.

Thanks so much all of you. Can you tell me more about Camp Jewell? I would love more details. Much appreciated

How is the quality of the facilities, counselors and activities? Would a child be comfortable coming without a friend and not knowing anyone? Are most of the kids from CT and coming with friends??

I wish I remember more about Camp Jewell, but I know my friends went so I had friends there. I did make friends too.

I love the activities - I remember arts/crafts, making a leather keychain, stuff like that. I remember kayaking (kids size boat). Of course being a kid, the cabin/bunk beds were awesome. LOL

It was just fun.
