Hi I recently got a new job in Windsor Locks. I live in Massachusetts so the shortest route to travel to and from work is to go down 84 to the 291 bypass then 91 north from there.

I was wondering what the morning and evening traffic is like in those areas because it is already about an hour commute from my house so if there is too much traffic I might have to consider getting an apartment.

I don't know for sure but I believe that since east of Hartford is more sparsely populated, the trip should be a breeze. Most of the traffic heads into Hartford from 91 so once you hit 91 N, you should be okay. It's the folks traveling 84 E into Hartford that experience major issues.

Depending on where you are in MA, wouldn't it be easier for you to take the Mass Pike?

He's probably taking the MASS pike to 84.

A co-worker travels that route daily. I'll ask them and repost.

Ahh okay, I think the OP meant 91 south then.

Yeah I live right off of 84 so I can just hop on there but there is no direct route to Windsor Locks so I have to go down 84 then back north on 91

Piece of cake. I make the trip to Windsor that route once a week. Once in a blue moon there will be a slight backup on 291, but other than that smooth sailing.

NP, I should have pointed out that 84 can have some issues now and again, but when that happens, it's more of a 30-40mph rolling "backup" for a mile or two. Unless a car flips over or something drastic like that...of course that can happen anywhere.
