JViello,
Your house sounds lovely. 1,600 square feet is a great size. Enough room for you to stretch out but not so much that your family become strangers. Big houses never say "family" or "home" to me.

Kidyankee,

Upper FF county is a little better than lower FF county price wise. I'd say lower FF county is one area where you can't get into a nice town with decent schools for under $175k. But the point I was trying to make is that, apart from lower FF county it's doable depending on your priorities.
It's a hard truth that sometimes you have to live with outdated stuff for a while when you can't afford to buy an updated/new place in the town you want. But I don't think that should preclude people from buying a house. They can always upgrade as they go along. I've always had the philosophy that it's better to buy in the best town you can afford so long as the house has no major issues you'll have to pay for. If that means cosmetic issues and some minor stuff, it can be done over time.

Now I understand why you feel the way you do. You paid cash for a Jag. 'Nuff said.

LOL Uh, that's in the bedroom, just in case you missed it. (Waiting for buttspank that the 48 is in the bedroom. lol)

53 (really it's for packaging reasons...I swear!) in the living room and the old school 60 projection in the family room...what do kids know.

Now before anyone starts on the "OMG, you live like a hog no wonder you need X dollars to live...I sold my old projection screen and only have $600.00 out of pocket for the big flat screen and did a barter swap for the bedroom TV and even THEN I worked half a Sunday to pay for the 53 minus the sale!

LOL FWIW, there are old school Jags out there you couldn't pay ME to drive as they are JUNK...and there is a newer Jag that is basically a Taurus with new sheetmetal you can grab for about 10K. So, it might not be that big of a deal.

Yes, I did. It was over a year old, still had a couple months left on the warrantee. I got it at CarMax. The asking price was $16,995. I traded in my Ford Explorer, and only had to pay $8,000 to take it off the lot.

So yeah. I paid cash, for a used Jaguar. And so can you, if you're willing to "settle" for an X-Type, and trade in the car you own now.

I don't have 8k lying around. I financed both of my cars. One is a 2007 Altima and the other is a 2006 Murano. We bought the Murano used.

I actually checked out CarMax off of I-95 in East Haven. I felt what they wanted to give me for my Accord was a rip, and I also thought their cars were a little pricey. No? Aren't most of them former rentals? I could be wrong.
