Hi,

I will be moving from MN to Trumbull, CT for a few months for a job assignment. I'm looking for an apartment and I'm thinking of either renting at the New Haven, East/West Haven, or Bridgeport Area.

Is there a way to commute from these towns to Trumbull?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if your question is asking about public transportation or not. If you're commuting by car, well, yes Trumbull has paved roads leading into town. There is no mass transit going into Trumbull.

The commute from East Haven to Trumbull will get old fast, as you'll have to travel on 95 most of the way which is one of the busiest stretches of highway in the country. Your best bet is to look for something in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, or take a look in Stratford. Be rather picky with neighborhoods in Bridgeport.

Oops, sorry about that. I meant public transpo commute, the exact location of the office is at Monroe Tpke, Trumbull, CT

Thanks for the tip. I'm having a hard time looking for a place, especially that I've never been to Trumbull, CT before and don't know the environment there

Actually there are several bus lines which run through Trumbull. Check out the service map of buses in that area at GBTA [Home Page — Welcome].
If you want to use public transit to commute, the only good options are living in Bridgeport, Trumbull, Monroe, or Stratford.

In that case I think your only bus option is 19x, a bus that runs from Bridgeport through to Monroe. Check with your employer, though, they might run their own shuttle from the Bridgeport train station, which would open up a lot more living options for you.

Thanks for the inputs!

Is the neighborhood safe and nice in the Bridgeport area?

The odds of finding an apartment along the bus route in Monroe are pretty slim, as the bus only goes to the southern tip of town on Rt. 111 ending at McDonald's. Maybe you could find something along Rt. 111 in Trumbull though, as there are a lot of smaller homes and condos/townhouses there. Your budget will be a huge factor; your $$ will go further in Bridgeport. You'll have to be very careful about Bridgeport though, as there are a lot of sketchy neighborhoods there.

I only see 2 routes that would work, and the runs are infrequent. Bus 19 comes out of the main terminal in Bridgeport, bus 14 comes from the mall, which is located on the Trumbull/Bridgeport line. If it were me in your position, i would be looking for something "behind" the mall, on Madison Ave. in Bridgeport. However, i'm not sure that bus 14 is going to work for you. The first run arrives on Monroe Tpke. at 8:35, the last run departs at 5:00.
