Does anyone know how to find out about Adult men's soccer teams in CT...preferably in or around the New Haven area? My husband has been researching the area, but hasn't really found out much. I think the New Haven team is having issues due to location. Other than that, we haven't really come across much. I've also checked out the New Haven welcome website and can't find anything there either (although a few months ago it was posted). Anyone have suggestions?

Most indoor soccer facilities have men's teams, women's, too.

Connecticut State Soccer Association Home Page

Try searching this site, it's the amateur soccer site. If not try your town's Park and Rec department, almost all have amateur leagues.

1 word of warning - be careful of some of the 'weekend warrior' type of leagues... I checked a couple of them out and a lot of the guys are out for blood. There's a ton of cheap shots, over aggressive play, and of course injuries. I'm pretty competitive, but I'm not interested in that.

I ended up bumping into an ex-coworker one day, and he started a pick-up game with an extended group of guys he knows and their friends or coworkers. I've been playing with them every week for over a year, and it's great. It's a great workout, we play to win but more to have fun, and then we grab a few pints after. If teams are uneven, we mix em up. That rarely happens tho. When it's cold, we play indoors (in Fairfield). Once the sun is still out past 8, we move outdoors to a field in Westport (don't want to pay expensive costs for lit fields). Age ranges from 22 - 45, and skill levels range, but nobody with just mediocre skills stays for long since some of the guys are much better.

If you're looking for something jut local, have your husband check out his company. Also, talk to your town recreation department. I'm sure they have some organized groups.

Todd, we did try to check out local groups. It seems really difficult to find anything online. New Haven's soccer team seems to be canceled due to location issues. My husband isn't with a company yet. We just moved here for a job offer (for me).
