Thanks for the info. I'll keep it in mind. I am new to the area so I dont know where that are is located. My Mom lives off 34 in a condo called Commodore Gardens. All looks good in these areas. Hopefully we are not near any incidents. Our unit is far back off Sodom and in a cul de sac. Neighbors say it's great place to live...

Your area is okay but if you mean Commodore Commons, that's one block from where the shooting was earlier in the year. If I remember correctly someone rammed anothers car, shot him, and drove away. It was on the news. To make you feel better, I believe most of these are drug related and not random (with the exception of the shooting on the other side of town where an "innocent" was hit). In these neighborhoods, how can we be sure they were actually innocent though?

Thanks for the info, both of you. Yes, I meant Commodore Commons. I guess things can happen anywhere.

You are right, they can. The tragedy that struck the unsuspecting wealthy Cheshire family three years ago showed us that. I know Orangewood and that's a very nice area. Right on the Orange line close to the shopping in Milford. By the way that new restaurant Lucarelli's is very good!

It has been pretty common knowledge(to outsiders) for a long, long time now that streets like Olivia/Hawkins/#'ed streets are to be avoided at night. Nothing new. So long as it continues to stay there, no big deal.

Yes they will eventually and sadly kill themselves off. My only gripe is sending my kids to school with kids who grow up in this environment. That's why were looking to move.

To add, the guys who committed this crime aren't even from Derby - the are from the Olsen Drive complex in Ansonia (very dangerous) and New Britain. Not saying this neighborhood isn't bad, but just an observation after reading the article.

My sister has told me that resturant is good also. She lives in Shelton. We will check it out.
We see no reason that we would ever venture to that area of town.
Its like where we moved from in NY. Our town was great but a 10 blocks into the south side (Numbered streets), it was gangland central. Im talking bad. They stayed in their end and we stayed in ours. I am glad to be leaving though. I want nothing to do with crime and gangs and bad areas.
