Default Recent grad., apartments near ESPN?

I just graduated and am interviewing with ESPN. In the case that I get a job there, where would be the ideal places to find an affordable apartment ($500-$800 a month) that's less then a 30 minute commute? Ideally I'd prefer to live in a city type atmosphere with things to do at night and what not (a hip city if you will), is this realistic? Suggestions and help wanted.

Thanks!

I am certain you could find an affordable rental in Bristol or Southington. Check Craigslist.com. I used it to rent a property and it worked great. Jay

Are you new to CT? Bristol is a city that has a lot of rentals..but is far from "hip"

You might consider Middletown. It would be about a 30 minute commute. It is a small city with an artsy vibe, due in large part to Wesleyan University which is in the heart of the downtown.

As another poster said, you could find something affordable to rent right in Bristol, but there is not much hipness there.

Good luck with your interviews!

In this area there's several cities within 10 miles of each other with some smaller towns in between.
Besides the City of Bristol, (and the mid-size neighboring town of Southington), there's the City of Meriden and the City of New Britain.
Bristol and Southington are very safe towns, especially compared to Waterbury or Hartford, and both have a good amount of retail stores.
Meriden has a mall not more than 10 miles away on I-691, and another mall borders New Britain which is not more than 10 miles away on I-84.
New Britain also has Central CT State University and the Minnesota Twins AA baseball team.
Central CT is a relatively wholesome part of the state, and Bristol also borders on the edge of some nice woodlands, with Litchfield County and Torrington to the northwest.
Bristol/Southington is also home to Lake Compounce, one of the oldest amusement parks in the nation which has been completely remodeled in recent years.
This small state offers a lot of recreational opportunities and is recognized for having a good quality of life.
And whereever you decide to live, you can listen to some of the best rock stations anywhere!
Good luck.
