I need to park at Stamford train station (or a short walk away) this Sat early AM. Any free options that exist on weekends or do I have to pay $8 a day? I am open to parking in a lot nearby provided it is a safe place to leave one's car for 24-36 hours.

I'd park on a neighborhood street near the Glenbrook or Springdale stations, take the short train ride down the Stamford Station, and go from there.

Park in the Government Center garage, 888 Washington Boulevard. It is about a 6 minute walk to the main Stamford train station and is free on the weekends for anyone to use (there is no attendant or gate). The Darien lot is also free on the weekends, but trains aren't as frequent.
