hmmm~ what else
...the state Xls road work for the Naugatuck river valley even though it had guaranteed FED $ to pay for MOST of it!!!! So I guess the valley is CT bastard child again. This isn't just Naugatuck that is affected ~ it is the whole valley. Since the CT portion is not funded then CT loses the FED money, and the jobs to fix those roads, and the safety of the residents in the valley is flipped off... if it isn't in/near Hartford or the casino's, or the shoreline who cares right????!!!!

Sorry, but I just had to vent. No money ever makes it to the valley from the state unless it absolutely has too. There is a bridge in ansonia getting fixed finally 'cause the state actually let it have holes in it right through to where folks could see the river...oh... then it got on a fix list...

Quite frankly, this is a problem all over the state, not just the valley. ConnDOT has to prioritize its spending and under the current funding programs it just does not have enough money to do all that is needed. This problem started several years ago when the state lowered the gas tax which is the main source of money for its portion of projects like these. It also does not help that Congress has yet to develop a new funding program for the next five years worth of transportation projects to replace the current one. They have delayed it until after the election because they know it will mean more taxes and new taxes does not get politicans re-elected. Jay.

Yeah sure problems all over, I get it... really I do...LOL

Oh they *fixed* the river in the 50's and built a few new bridges, by destroying the character of the towns in the process. Rt8 was just sited poorly, designed badly with blind ramps, some interchanges of state roads haven't been reconsidered since horses walked on them.... The plan to alleviate congestion by a 67/42 was shelved last year... even though everyone was on board. Now the truck school students are going to take up all the available asphalt all day every day, and the interchanges, ramps, rotaries... toast... ZERO ...kissey kissey the Fed $ goodbye...think those washington folks are going to give us any more??? NO... all they will say going forward is 'HEY you didn't use the funds we gave you...'
State highways have cameras they stop abrubtly above the valley...

Hey, I noticed that they got new ROAD SIGNS at that horribly designed traffic circle on RT 188 in Seymour. That's a start!
Maybe people won't drive straight through it anymore.
Also I agree with the poor design on RT 8 and surrounding intersections; take the Bank Street intersection off of RT 8 near the old Walgreens. I drove up there at night a few weeks ago and the light was blinking. You can't see to your left or right because of the massive concrete supports holding up the highway overhead. So if you don't see headlights, you have to gun it. I used to go that way during rush hour to get to my parents. One word: Damn.

Ha..yeah..signs who knows who paid for them... but "Evaluate traffic circles and roundabouts in Seymour" page 11 of the DOT link...funny the document says page 3 at the bottom... anyway...roundabouts UNFUNDED... Rte 188 interchange has always been a mess, that's one of them been that way since the horses walked roads....

...the state Xls road work for the Naugatuck river valley even though it had guaranteed FED $ to pay for MOST of it!!!! So I guess the valley is CT bastard child again. This isn't just Naugatuck that is affected ~ it is the whole valley. Since the CT portion is not funded then CT loses the FED money, and the jobs to fix those roads, and the safety of the residents in the valley is flipped off... if it isn't in/near Hartford or the casino's, or the shoreline who cares right????!!!!
