I really miss CT and the Seasons especially Fall.

Right now I live in SC and have a 1408 sqft house and pay $250, if we don't change the filters ever 2 months it shoots up to $360. Our house is brand new and to me, we should not be paying that much for a new house, which is so small. I know you guys are going to laugh at me for thinking this is a lot, but remember I am in SC.

Something does not seem right there. If you are saying that basically the heat was not coming on, and no lights or anything on, you have a leak or short somewhere. According to their website, and cost per kilowatt, either you have very high powered alarm clocks, or you have something wrong.

I live in Danbury, CT, in a 2 bedroom, Ranch, 1100 SF, and my electric bills have been between $400-$453 since at least Oct. I live alone. I don't use my dishwasher, and I only do laundry once a week. I call CL&P up and try and tell them that my neighbor 3 doors down, in the same condo, who has 2 adults and a teenager living there, and who does laundry almost daily, as well as runs her dishwasher daily, and takes 3 showers daily compared to my one, pays around $275-$300. They just tell me it must be my windows, or my fridge, or it's my PC. You can't argue with these people and they have me by the balls. I can't afford these bills so I have to sell my condo and think about what to do now. Where do I go? It's so frustrating.

Call them up and ask for an energy audit. The buyer of my last listing (I represented the seller) does that for CL&P.

Angela

those bills seem beyond real- something is very wrong.

I have a home the same size- a townhouse and use my dishwasher and dryer, and hot water is electric- two people. Bills are just

over $100 a month.

I suggest you contact the DPUC and inquire what actions can be done to audit your energy use with the light company.

Something believe me is very wrong.

I just moved from a 1700sf house that ran me about $200 a month-it had oil heat and hot water, no air conditioning. I did use the dryer a lot in winter, but I did have an energy-star one and the washer too. I thought it was a tad high.

I just moved to a place with elec heat and hot water-can't wait to see that bill...I got the electric heating rate for it though so maybe it will be ok.

Really, This is not bad, I was thinking it would be a lot more then this. I think our electric here in SC is high only because the builder slapped this house up quick to make a fast buck. We have a heat pump for our C/A and heat. But $250-360 is pretty high for a new house.

I don't know...to me, if that $250-360 is including heat and central air and hot water, that's pretty cheap. In my example above, I didn't mention that we also had to fill the oil tank every month in winter, less often in summer-another $250 a month. And no ac.
