I hate Connecticut.
Connecticut is the rudest place I've ever lived. I was born in Georgia, Lived in Texas, visited Illinois and North Carolina and I can't even explain in words how much I hate it here. First of all the people are so rude. Sometimes I hate to even leave my home. I am moving back to Georgia as soon as possible. Second, alot of people tend to forget that the south is cheaper to live. There is also soooo much more to do. Restaraunts, Night life, great things for kids. Anyone who has ever lived in the south would probably agree. I know that I'm correct because My hairdresser actually asked me one day where I was originally from cause I'm so friendly. I told him Georgia. Well, he has a brother that lives there so I guess talking to me helped him decide to visit his brother and one day he called me and said he wouldn't be coming back. I was upset that I lost my favorite hairdresser but happy for him. He said "I'm having the time of my life!" Not to mention the cute new apartment he's renting with a pool and the salon that he works at now where he's actually met some celebrities and is treated with much more respect that he ever got here. Good for him. I can't wait to move.

You have a right to your own opinion- which I do not agree with. After the very negative and rather mean spirited post above I wonder who is really rude- us or you?
If you hate the state of Connecticut so much- take your own advice and move back to Georgia, or one of the other areas you mentioned- Soon.

It may depend on where in the state you live. I am in a Navy community and we have a lot of transplants here. I am a transplant although I have lived here over half my life! I have never had a negative experience here. But I know of people who have. The only advice I have is just be pleasant and expect the best. If folks are not pleasant back at you, you know you have done your part! Sorry it hasn't been a good experience so far... but give us a chance! :-)

Again with this
Is this another one of those one-post only threads that gets everybody in an uproar? I wonder how many of these are actually made by the same person, just creating various login names. Looking around here gives me the impression that it is probably a high percentage.

I have lived in the south for almost 10 years now I hate it. I am from CT and moved south for a better life and have not found it here. All I have found is rude, very religious, judgmental people, who don't let anyone into their click, that was not raised in the south. There is no good food here and nothing for my kids to do. No one like to celebrate the holidays including birthdays. And don't even get me started on how bad the school are.
You can take your too hot and humid, bug infested, roach loving, stuck up close-minded south and keep it.

I totally agree. I live in the south now and am actually excited to be going back to CT FROM GA. I have made some friends, but have never acclaimated to the southern way. I prefer people who are upfront and honest, but in the south, it seems, people appear more friendly and courteous, but are more prone to "drama" and talking about people behind their backs, etc. I've had more issues with gossip and rumors than I ever had in the north. I guess someone who hasn't lived in the north is not used to honesty up front. It appears rude, but really is just blunt.

Yeah, feels like deja-vu all over again. Let's ignore this posting and move on.

I just spent 5 hours with an out of town client. THEY remarked at how friendly and nice everyone had been to them. I suppose if you reflect frendliness and happiness, you receive it in return. So, good bye Gwen, don't let the door hit you on the rear on the way out. For those of us who are staying, things will start to look even better moments after you leave.

While temperamentally folks up North differ greatly from those down South, I would hardly say I've ever met a rude person from CT--ever, and I spent 20-odd years summering in Sherman, CT.
And on a recent visit, and a hiatus of nearly 10 years absence, I was greeted like a long, lost family member in a neighbouring town.
So, it may be that the OP is just not accustomed to our heating system--warm on the inside, chilly outdoors.
