I'm look into living in western CT if I move to the New York Area in the near future. I am just wonder which town of these four, or others, if you have suggestions, is the best for a decent home price ($750,000>) and a commute to Midtown Manhattan.

Thanks for your time

If it's a 5 day commute, none of them.

The furthest you'll want to go is Fairfield.

I agree. I live in Fairfield and the commute is bad. Anything beyond it would be very hard, unless you can work from home 1-2 days a week or have limited hours.

In general, for the commute, a town on the main New Haven line is best. That means Stratford or Milford. Shelton is way off the path for a commute by train, and Trumbull is a hike to a train station. If you lived in the extreme southwestern part of Trumbull, it would be almost like living in parts of Fairfield, but it's really not ideal.

If you don't need public schools, absolutely.

Thanks for the help guys. On goolge maps it said Milford was only 90 min from Lower Manhattan, so I thought that would be a good area

Westport!

There are currently 57 house under 800k, you may get lucky and find one you like.

Westport has the train, beach, top schools and every amenity you could want!

I would have to agree with the others. Shelton and trumbull are kind of far for a Manhattan commute. Though I do know some people that do it by driving to Bridgeport and taking the train from there. I agree that Fairfield would be better and anything to the south of it would be better for commuting. Stamford and Norwalk are cities and their schools have typical urban issues. Westport and Darien are great towns with some homes in your price range. Even Greenwich now has some nice but modest homes in that range. Keep in mind that in real estate, Location is everything. Jay

The express train from Milford to Grand Central Station is 88 minutes. I would hate to make that commute everyday.
