It's known as cutting your nose off in-spite of your face. Free fix, then sell it for $400 - $500, as reconditioned.

Got the same freaking problems and been dealing with Mitsubishi sine the middle of may 2011. At this point I would not buy another Mitsubishi product if I could help it. Like most of the posts here I have a wd-y657 dlp and it is about 3.5yrs old and after replacing the bulb the dots start showing up. I called Mitsu and got a repair estimate (out of pocket) and faxed everything to them. The first call I got back was with an offer of $238.20 toward the repair. Told the rep that was not going to fly, they called back the next day with an offer of $302.40 and that is where it is at this point. Message today from a different rep. stated that the last offer was the best they were going to do. Going to call back after work when I can hopefully talk to them in a language they might understand.

Having sold electronics I understand the warrenty stuff, but I actually would have been less mad with them if they had just told me I was out of luck and not make such low offers on "helping me repair my tv".

Same problem here, amazing how you get a free planeterium with the purchase of a DLP TV! This is crazy, we should be able to sue them or something. I brought this tv and its in my living room which we hardly ever sit in and watch tv. We are usually only in there on Sunday when we have company. My milky way is growing rapidly as we have been using the tv more often lately. It's sad to spend so much money on a tv and they are aware of this problem but aren't really willing to do anything about it. Well tomorrow i'm stepping out on faith and calling them. I pray all goes well I will keep you guys posted.

The failing mirror issue is and has been a known issue with DLP since the beginning. Movie theatres wanting to go digital had DLP as a major option and a lot of owner balked. While DLP in projectors for computers kinda makes sense, I was surprised it was being used in home televisions.

Yes, I am another sucker that bought a Mitsubishi Rear Projection TV, model WD-65734 in 2007.
We just replaced the bulb and started seeing spots three days after. I agree I think there should be a recall. I will try and call Mistubishi this week and see what happens. This is crazy. How many people have this problem?
