We spent a lot of time, a LOT of time, researching before we bought and ended up with a Samsung. It came down to Samsung or Sony Bravira (LCD). The deciding factor was watching the two in a store. There was a man being interviewed during an Indy style race and he kept turning quickly to the side to watch something. He had a partially grown beard and it would "fuzz" on the Sony, but not on the Samsung.

It's been perfect for three years now and we've never regretted buying it.

I keep hearing a lot about Samsung but it's just so hard to get a brand for a TV that is the current brand for the TV you are replacing.
Out of those, I would only go for the Sony Bravia XBR Series.

When I was in college I did a report on technology with t.v's. LCD seem better plus they don't leave the image on the screen from having it on a certain channel to much. Liquid crystals seem to last longer too.
