...or maybe I'm just an idiot.

We've been watching DVDs of The House of Elliot from Netflix. Three episodes to a disk. No problem. Two nights ago, on a disk with only two episodes, I couldn't get the second episode to play. I'd select it. It would play the first one. Over and over. Tried cleaning the disk. No change. i reported it and Neflix sent me another copy. It won't play the second episode either. I tried it on a DVD player and in a TV with built-in player. I tried the next disk in the series (also only two episodes) and it wouldn't work right either.

What am I missing?

Try the DVD in your PC or on another dvd player to rule out a bad disc.

Dvd players dont last forever. Maybe yours has seen its better days.

I've had to return disks to Netflix on occasion...might just be a damaged disc in that one area that it's trying to access.

I've got an older player that is a little picky as well, so I agree that testing other newer players or trying to view on a computer are good suggestions. Sometimes, using "play all" and then advancing with skip can get you in. I haven't delved in deeply enough to more than guess, but the symptoms seem like the header of the file may have problems.

If you tried that disk on several players and only the second episode is giving you problems on every player it may be a compression issue with the disk which would have originated from a master disk.

Report it as unplayable on Netflix site and they will immediately send a different copy, and ask you to send the defective back.
