Magic Jack is only 19.95 a year and if you get magic jack plus, you can use it with OR with out a computer.

That's less then $1.70 a month.

We shifted to cellphones. Then we shutdown the phone part of our landline and we use it for it's 'dsl'. The dsl part is $18/month.

We do not have cable in our town, nor do any of the adjoining towns. Our options are to use the phone company landline, or else shift to satellite.

I recently dropped cable but still have the internet and digital phone. I now pay just $105 a month and don't miss TV at all. I did buy an antenna for all the local channels.

I would suggest using a Chromecast device instead of the cables.
