The short description is then sent back to the camera and printed.

Am I the only one thinking "why?"

Yea because when I print pictures, I often think "boy I wish I could print a description, too"...

I'm not sure what the big deal is? He "invented" something that automatically uploads an image to service where a human is going to provide a description?

...and what's the deal with the printout when it could just be added to the meta data?

At $1.20 a pop, thanks but no thanks.
