Plugged it in it wont recognize it anymore. I think it died. Is there anyway to format it so its of use again? I dont know how to format it when it wont recognize it.

One of a couple things have happened. The actual hard drive inside the enclosure has failed, the electronics in the enclosure have failed, or the enclosures power supply or USB cable has failed.

Put your ear close to it when you power the drive up, you should be able to hear it spin up. Also try the drive on a different USB port, or a different computer as it could be a driver issue with the computer you've been using it on. If these tests don't work you have a hardware failure somewhere.
