I will be cancelling my cable subscription and going to a Roku/netflix/hulu television strategy. Here on long island that will save about 1,000/year even with the netflix/hulu subscriptions and the fact that I only have basic cable to start. Crazy.
Anyway, I do still want to be able to watch my local news and broadcast stations and want to go back to antenna service. I understand this now means a conerter box of some kind. Also what about the antenna? Inside or outside? Are there any combination antenna/converter units? I have just started to research this. All input appreciated!
You only need a the converter box if you have a older TV. Anything made after 2007 won;t require that and some sets prior that. You should be able to tune them through a newer DVD/blu ray playe also. Check the manuals.
For antennas Some may work better than others in that they get better reception but an antennae is antennae as long it works, there is no such thing as a "digital antennae". When I say better reception with digital it's all or nothing. Poor reception is unwatchable. A good signal on a $5 antennae is just as good as one that cost $100.
