The guy I bought it from said they reset it. But I always read about 'bloatware' and unneccessary programs, stuff running in the background, especially regarding battery life.

I've never had any gadget like this so I can barely turn it on. It does have a lot of icons on the home page - like Game Center - nothing in it but I don't play games so.....

Any help on how to clean up and maximize my battery life?

Thanks

Ok I get the more focused forum idea (although "consumer electronics is pretty generic so why not here) but the threads at your link.......half of them have 500+ views and 0 responses.

If anyone else would like to help me that would be great, and I'll try to find a better forum.

There are certain apps that you can not get rid off (clock, calendar, gamecenter, safari, maps, contacts, photos, calculator, stocks, notes and a few others)

go to the home screen and touch and hold any icon. a black "X" in a circle should appear. You can delete any app with an x o, by touching the ap.

To close apps, double click the home button. your open apps will appear. again hold down any given app and a red minus sign should show up. Close any open apps by touching the minus sign.

You can also edit, add and delete apps through iTunes.

The home button is the bottom on and off button? When I hold down and an app everything just starts to jiggle...........the only two icons I would want to get rid of are games and stocks. Maybe newsreader, not sure what its for. Do I need that to download podcasts? Not sure why everyone says apple is so intuitive.

Yes, and you cannot get rid of games and stocks.

go to the app store, and download the podcast app if you do not have it. There are tons of news readers out there... most are free and most are pretty good - find them in the app store too.

If you think the apple interface is difficult, then then you will have a very difficult time with the other Operating systems.

You could try the official user guide

I've been using microsoft pc's forever. Not like I'm doing stuff in dos all day but the way MS arranged, drilling down into files etc. MS seems intuitive to me

Certainly nothing in MS wiggles for unknown reasons
