Gps? (system, direct, cost)

In the market to buy one, somewhere around the 300.00 range. Anyone care to share what they have and pros and cons?

Buy one that allows you to update the maps on your home PC or it just like carrying around a map with old road and highway systems

I'd like to hear some advice about this too. We have a Garmin 2790 (2970?) which cost $750. a few years ago. We'd like to buy a GPS for a gift, but I think surely there are some adequate ones for a lot less by now?

I just bought one, a Garmin 330. I didn't want anything fancy, what I wanted was one that would; 1- could be updated on my PC. 2- That I could save locations on and 3-get me home from where ever I was. 4- get me where ever I need to go 5- Would verbally give directions....

I didn't need one that does anything else.... So far, I love it and am impressed with it.. Good clear voice, great directions and SO easy to figure out for a simpled minded lady.
