TWC is now offering digital adapters for basic TV cable usage. What is the difference between these digital adapters and the digital converter boxes that change digital signals to analog ones for older TVs?

Assuming they are the same as the Comcast one only SD(standard definition), no PPV, no on demand, no interactive menu, etc.

Basically you can only change channels.

The cable adapters get you cable programming that you pay for, it connects to a cable connection coming in from the outside. The digital adapters pull in OTA programming that costs nothing via an antenna , they are needed on older TV's due to the conversion of OTA broadcasts from analog to digital in 2009.
