My Sony STR-DG910 has been trucking along great since 2008.
This morning I turned it on and there is no picture to the TV. But, the sound plays in the speakers. There is an HDMI connection from the cable box to the DG910, and an HDMI connection from the DG910 to the TV. The odd thing is that the blue light for the 'multi-channel decoding' is on. Which it never has been. But, it stays on no matter which input I select, even non-HDMI.
I've unplugged everything. reconnected everything back up. No change: 'multi-channel decoding' light is on, sound is good, no picture.
The multi channel decoding LED has nothing to do with why you are not getting a display on your TV -- it just means your Sony is actively decoding the audio signal.
Have you tried to simply connect the cable box directly to the TV (bypassing the Sony)? I think your TV is kaput.
