I live in Florida, and I need to text someone in the UK, my phone was originally bought and set up in the UK, is there anything I need to do to ensure they get my text and what do they need to do to text me back?

TIA

Do you still have UK service ? If so you need to be set up for roaming in order to send from the US to the UK.
If you have a US SIM card in your phone you basically need to send the text to +44(then number). No all US providers can send text messages to international, and cannot receive from International providers. You may wanna call and ask.

I'm still on uk service and have a roaming order that allows me international messages, but I've never texted back to the uk. Is there anything they need to do to reach me do you know?

No there shouldnt be. If they are in the Uk they just send it to the number as if you are still in the UK and it will get to you, that is provided that the carrier you are roaming with here in the US can receive international text messages. you may need to ring them.
You to send a msg to them will have to put +44(then number) to send it.

Ok, my friend lives in the UK and I live in america, how can I send him a text msg? I can't add the + in front of his number, I've tried that already.

Can you go to the website of their carrier and send them text messages from there?

Uh, all you have to do is send it to 011+the international code+their phone number (do not include the "+", just type in the numbers in a straight line).

International texting can become expensive real fast for the both of you.

There are some free international texting services like Peekamo, but they also send an ad along with the message. There are others that are only free to sender.

If your phone is from the UK and you want to send a message to someone in the UK on the same plan just go to your providers website and send it from there free of charge to the both of you.
