Hello,

I own a pioneer VSX-822-K receiver, and just recently purchased a vizio S4251w sound bar (a powered sound bar). I currently have a Roku, Apple TV, and DVD player in to the receiver via HDMI, with vidio out via HDMI to a Samsung LCD TV (the TV has only HDMI in and out for both video and digital audio, no optical or digital audio out).

I would like to have digital audio out from the receiver to the sound bar, but I the receiver does not have any digital optical audio out.

Any suggestions?

-Ryan

You should have bought an un-powered soundbar and a separate subwoofer.

But a good suggestion!

To use an HDMI from sound bar to TV, both must have an 'arc'. If not arc, a digital optical must be added but even if source is 5.1, output will be 2 channel PCM.
If no HDMI, sound bar might have RCA or a minijack. This would require a minijack to RCA adapter. Sound would be analog 2 channel only.
