Samsung HT-H4500 5.1-Channel Smart 3D Blu-ray Home Theater
Hi. I'm trying to set up my new theater system. We have an old style tv so we can't hookup the HDMI cable yet.
I just bought an adapter for the AUX so that at least we can listen to music from the computer.
Everything is currently connected.
I turn on the music from the computer.
All we hear is the subwoofer playing the song - very deep...(sounds like a normal subwoofer).
The other 5 speakers, front, center, rear...none of them have any sound coming out...not even static
I've also tested the cord for FM. Same issue. Sub fine, the rest...nothing, no static
I've been around audio equip for a while so I don't imagine I did anything wrong with the setup. In any case, I did try to switch things around. Went through any possibility that crossed my mind. AUX, tried the other functions..even tried the USB with a flash drive of music. Unlikely it's the adapter I bought since the FM has the same issue. I connected the sub the same way as the other speakers. I switched the color/black connections on the speakers themselves as well as switching the connection to the system around. The subwoofer cable can only go into 1 slot so I can't really test it with other speakers.
Just wondering if anybody else has had this issue?
Maybe I missed something?
Is it warranty time?
If the sub is playing then everything is hooked up properly from the computer to receiver. That leaves only the speaker connections which are pretty hard to mess up and I find it doubtful that you mis-connected ALL of the speakers.
It sounds like a faulty amplifier in the receiver. The sub is working because it most likely has it's own, separate amplifier inside of it (if you have to plug in the sub to a power outlet, it has it's own amp) and if you only connect one cord to it (which probably looks like a single RCA cable correct?), that means it's using a line-level input and thus, it's own internal amp to amplify it.
The only other possibility that I can think of is that all of your speakers are defective which is unlikely.
That system is also a blu-ray player. Does it play blu-ray discs correctly?
The sub is not powered. So the amplification is in the main unit.
It also seems that the five speakers each have a cable supplied by Samsung. Have you verified the connectors are inserted completely, at both the main unit and the speakers?
