We just purchased a GoPro Hero 2 weeks ago and now it won't turn on. I tried to call support but they won't answer and never call back.

It worked fine except I don't think my son fully charged it when he got it so it never fully held a charge. If I hold down the power button, it beeps three times but won't turn on and my computer no longer recognizes it so I don't think it is just a battery issue. Any ideas?

We bought it from Amazon so I can get it replaced but wanted to troubleshoot a bit first.

Have you tried a different USB port? It comes with a transformer for charging from power outlet? Have you tried that?

Another thing to try is take the battery out and put it back in, it may not be seated properly.

USB ports can wear out, never did it myself but if you have one that is on the front of the computer you are constantly plugging and unplugging devices it will no longer work eventually.

The USB port works with other devices but I can't seem to figure out how to get the GoPro battery out. If you have any idea, please let me know.

Try it anyway, in particular the charger you plug into the wall. Try a different USB cord while you're at it.

If you're going to troubleshoot something you need to eliminate what the issues might be.

You'll have to look in the manual to find out how the battery comes out.

Might still be something wrong with the cable or the port and you managed to get contact. If it's the port it doesn't necessarily mean other devices won't work because it could just be the contact for the power. If those devices don't require power for charging or operating then it won't matter.

If it happens again as I already suggested try charging it from the wall outlet and if that doesn't work try a different cable.

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

Go pro has trouble shooting guides on their site and they address your problem.

I had the same problem with a Hero 2 and apparently it's common. Mine eventually stopped working altogether but for a while I could put it in the freezer for five minutes or so and get it to power up.
