Is there a device out there that can convert an older TV into a digital photo frame? I've read that an SD card reader may do it, but I have no idea what to get. Any recommendations for me?

Define "older TV". Make and model would be quite helpful as the available inputs would determine your options.

An old PC computer or laptop would work, but you need a converter cable to send the display to the TV.

A Nintendo Wii can do this, 30 to 60 bucks on Craigslist, or ask around if someone has one stashed away they are not using.

Many DVD players will read a data DVD with images on it and do a slideshow, if you resize them to SD resolution you could get thousands on single DVD. Newer systems with wifi capability will even be able to do it from networked device, you'll just have to make sure it has RCA outputs assuming this is a SD TV.

You can also use software for creating an authored DVD if you want more advanced features. You may have windows DVD maker on you computer.

The gold standard for this is Pro Show Gold.
