Has anyone heard of these? If not, they can be found at impact.com. I was given one of these at a teacher convention as a sample advertising another product. It's like a thick greeting card with a handheld video that plays on a small built-in lcd screen. I would like to learn how to make them if the process isn't too labor intensive. I know the process for making cards that only play sound isn't too labor intensive. I thought they might have practical application with my students or just as portable video resumes. I imagine getting the company to make them would be too expensive and wouldn't really suit my purposes.

Just a guess, but they are probably similar to the cheap MP4 players. IIRC, those use a variant format called .amv which is proprietary and funky.
