If you have a smart phone, there are some *apps*, that could do that, again depending on the memory available.
Just need some kind of support to keep the camera part of the phone, pointed forward.

All of the dash cams I have used have a button to press if you want to save what you have just seen. (Dash cams don't record to one large continuous file, but a series of smaller ones.)
So if Sasquatch has run across the road in front of you, you can save that part of the recording and it won't be overwritten.
Got dashcam but being not tech savy i'm having trouble using the thing. Is it possible the thing came with no sim card and i need to buy this separately?
Slowly getting the hang of this dashcam. Bought 32gb sim card and it now records nice videos but
Current problem is the video is being displayed in multiple 3 minute segments/files, how do i get it to display a 30 to 60 minute uninterrupted video.?
As a device i bought intending to take videos of scenery while driving its rather useless as every few minutes of viewing the captured video i have to reload another file to watch another few minutes of the journey..
Post #6 shows what i'm after..

I told you that in post #12.
If you want a continuous recording you have to get a GoPro type action camera or you can let a video maker program stitch your small files together - easy to do.
