I recently purchased a condo in a safe suburban area, but am concerned that it is not equipped with an alarm system.

Aside from the front door, the condo has a garage, as well as an entrance in the back via a sliding glass door.

I'd like to invest in some sort of 'smart' connected alarm system, to provide motion detection close to the entrances, as well as an alarm when they are opened.

Have purchased the 'Ring' doorbell system (as my front door does not have a peep hole), but find the motion detection to be far from accurate (every day I get alerts about cars driving within 20 feet of my door, etc...when I set the detection range for 5 feet). As the system is pricey, I feel as if paying $200 for a 'smart' peep hole is a waste, so I'm leaning towards returning it. Also, it does not offer any sort of alarm feature.

I've read good things about Samsung's SmartThings system, which I would then pair with motion sensors, as well as perhaps a few connected LED bulbs. Have also read that Lowes' Iris system is to be avoided.

What system would you guys recommend? Looking to spend in the $200-300 range, for the hub, all needed sensors, and a few connected bulbs. Thanks.

I always felt alarm is a false safety thing. I rather do this than waste money on alarms:
