NSA can pretty much already monitor all telecommunications. Big Brother is already here. If the government is really interested in what temperature I keep my home, or if a light bulb is on or off, it's already too late to worry!

And it doesn't help when IOT manufactures completely fail at securing their own products, to the point where the end user can't correct the flaw.

To me, a smart home is one built in Hawaii, both ocean front and mountain view.

There's a new device from Amazon that works with your smartphone and other smart devices. It's a glorified alarm clock, I'd say.

Also, there are now home security systems that let you answer the door when you're away.

I think Chromecast, if you're a tv watcher, is on the cusp of a smart system for your home.

Just a few things for starters.
