IoT's, be very careful in adopting these devices (connect, system, security)

There has been many articles recently on the complete security failures of many IoT devices lately. I had been putting them in this thread Smart Home components but thought a thread dedicated to the subject would be better.

For our first failure we have a DVR system that takes snapshots from connected security camera and emails them an address in china.

A security system that's not only trivially bypassed, but designed in such a way that it cannot be fixed without replacing the hardware.

No surprise, it saddens me when companies care so little for consumers that they'll churn out this crap just to make a buck, and the average consumer just blindly trusts that their security system (or any IoT device) is actually secure.
